After surgery, your stoma may be swollen. As it heals, your stoma will gradually shrink in size.
Because of this change in the weeks following surgery, it is important to regularly measure your stoma to ensure you are wearing the appropriate pouch size.
Your ostomy nurse can help you set up a measuring schedule and advise on resizing needs.1
